Our first Walk to Stop the Clot, Shoreline Park, Long Beach, Dec. 2013

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HELPING US REACH OUR 2013 GOAL! We blew past our $10,000 goal and topped $11,000. Thanks to all of you who came to the walk and who supported our walkers for this great cause.

9:45 a.m.  Presentation by. Dr. Samuel Berkman, specializing in internal medicine and hematology and clinical professor of medicine and hematology at UCLA. He is the author of several articles in medical journals.

WONDERFUL weather news! Shoreline Aquatic Park is a beautiful spot right on the water, and we're expecting clear skies and mild weather.

Directions and parking:
Shoreline Aquatic park is located behind Aquarium of the Pacific at the south end of Interstate 710 (Long Beach Freeway) at 200 Aquarium Way, Long Beach, CA 90802. Follow the freeway signs to the Aquarium of the Pacific. You will merge onto Shoreline Drive; stay on Shoreline Drive until you reach the aquarium

From points north: Take the 405 S to 710 S and follow signs for downtown/aquarium (exit on the left). Merge onto Shoreline Drive. Park and aquarium will be on your right.

From points east: Take the 91 W to 710 S and follow signs for downtown/aquarium (exit on the left). Merge onto Shoreline Drive. Park and aquarium will be on your right.

From points south: Take the 405 N and then the 22 West/7th Street exit. Continue west on 7th Street. Turn left on Alamitos Ave. Continue onto Shoreline Dr. Turn left on Aquarium Way.

Parking:

  • The Pike at Rainbow Harbor offers: 90 minutes FREE self-parking with validation. Please read carefully:

    Self Parking Basic Rate
    First 5 Minutes FREE
    Each 30 Minutes Or Any Portion Thereof: $1.50

    Self Parking With Validation - Retail/Restaurant
    First 90 Minutes FREE
    91 Minutes - 3 Hours: $2.00
    3 Hours - 4 Hours: $3.00
    Each 30 Minutes Or Any Portion Thereof: $1.50

    OR a flat-rate ticket for $7, which WE WILL PROVIDE. If you plan to stay in the area for five hours (lunch or visiting the local businesses), this is your suggested option. 


  • Aquarium of the Pacific, adjacent to the park, offers a flat rate of at least $8. More information can be found here.
  • Parking can also be found at Shoreline Village ($1 with validation up to two hours, then $2 each 20 minutes, $8 maximum)

Route and distance info:


Our course is projected to be about 1.5 miles -- three laps around the perimeter of the park ending with a victory walk up to the lighthouse. You can walk as many or as few laps as you'd like.
